What are the advantages of a Permanent residence permit in Poland?

Permanent residence permit in Poland (“karta stałego pobytu”) is a document issued to a foreigner in order to legalize his permanent stay in Poland for an indefinite period. A permanent residence permit allows a foreigner to live, study and work in Poland with the same rights as Polish citizens, with the exception of participation in elections.

In the case of a positive decision of the state authorities, the foreigner get an official document – permanent residence card. The card itself is valid for 10 years. After 10 years, the foreigner is obliged to replace it with a new one.

This card allows foreigner to stay not only in Poland for 360 days a year, but also in the territory of other European Union countries (Schengen zone) for up to 90 days in every 180 days.

who has been continuously staying on the territory of Poland for at least 10 years

Continuous stay – a foreigner’s stay in Poland with breaks no longer than 6 months, with the total duration of all breaks not exceeding 10 months. (with some exceptions)
